In a controversial decision Volusia County’s Interlocal Service Boundary Agreement (ISBA) with Ormond Beach has been renewed for another decade, with the agreement's boundaries remaining unchanged. The extension maintains coordination on planning and services but excludes the proposed fuel farm site at 874 Hull Road, which Ormond Beach opposed. Despite some council members suggesting more frequent reviews of the ISBA, a five-year review process is already established. The agreement, which began in 2014, covers properties northeast of U.S. 1.

Mainland High’s ‘Godfather’ of Football, Terry Anthony, Resigns After Nearly Three Decades

Terry Anthony, Mainland High School’s athletic director and head track coach, is stepping away from his role as an assistant football coach. Known affectionately as “The Godfather,” Anthony cited the demanding nature of football and his other responsibilities as the main reasons for his decision. He aims to devote more time to his duties as athletic director and continue his role as head track coach.

Anthony’s departure from football coaching marks the end of a storied 29-year career at Mainland. He joined the staff in the late 1990s after returning to Daytona Beach from his NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a standout college career at Florida State. His decision follows a particularly challenging year, where extended football and basketball seasons strained his ability to balance multiple roles.

Colleagues and former players have praised Anthony for his impact both on and off the field. His legacy, they say, will endure through the many lives he has influenced.
