🐱 Rabies Alert in Holly Hill

A feline case of rabies has put Holly Hill on high alert. The Florida Department of Health in Volusia County issued a rabies advisory after a cat tested positive on August 12 near San Robar and Riverside Drive. The alert covers the area between the Halifax River, 15th Street, 5th Street, and Center Avenue, and will remain in effect for 60 days.

Residents and visitors are urged to avoid contact with wild or stray animals, ensure their pets and livestock are vaccinated, and keep animals supervised. If bitten or scratched by any animal, it's critical to seek medical attention immediately.

Authorities remind locals not to feed or shelter wild creatures—no matter how cute—and to secure trash and pet food to avoid unwanted wildlife guests. For more information or to report an incident, contact Holly Hill Animal Control at 386-248-9483 or the health department at 386-274-0634.

🍕 Pizza Shop Owner’s Second Slice of Legal Trouble

Lenny’s Pizza might be serving more than pepperoni. Leonard Fries Jr., the owner of the beloved local eatery, is facing new drug charges following a six-month undercover sting dubbed "Operation Summer Slammer." Authorities allege Fries juggled his pizza business with a secret side hustle—trafficking cocaine and marijuana from his upscale Eagle Rock home.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly confirmed that the fresh charges are based on previous undercover buys, now backed by lab test results. During an earlier raid, law enforcement seized drugs, firearms, vehicles, and over $5,000 in cash.

Fries had already pleaded not guilty to initial charges. These latest developments include accusations of trafficking cocaine, intent to sell meth and cannabis, and possession of Schedule 1 substances.

Despite his legal woes, Fries is currently out on bond. His arraignment date for the new charges has yet to be announced.

🎸 Welcome to 10 More Years of Rockville

Rock fans, rejoice—Welcome To Rockville is here to stay. Danny Wimmer Presents has inked a 10-year agreement with Daytona International Speedway, locking in the festival's home in Daytona Beach through 2035.

Since its move from Jacksonville in 2021, Rockville has become North America's largest rock and metal festival. The 2025 edition drew over 230,000 fans, generating more than $80 million in local economic impact. The 2026 show is slated for May 7–10, with lineup news dropping this fall.

Beyond music, the new deal includes a $10,000 donation to AdventHealth and expanded NASCAR collaborations. Expect Rockville branding at the Coke Zero 400 and on Carson Hocevar’s No. 77 race car as part of a high-octane promotional blitz.

Daytona’s leaders call this a “no-brainer” partnership—one that keeps the amps cranked and the local economy booming.
