🎸🎸Mark your calendars: Welcome to Rockville returns to Daytona International Speedway May 7–10, bringing over 160 bands across five stages for four days of rock in every conceivable subgenre. The headliner lineup is serious — Foo Fighters, Guns N' Roses, and My Chemical Romance headline, with Breaking Benjamin, All-Time Low, Mayday Parade, and dozens more filling out the bill. Beyond the music, the festival includes carnival rides, food, art installations, shopping, and for out-of-towners, the option to camp inside the Speedway itself. Day passes, two-day passes, and four-day passes are all available. Full lineup and tickets at welcometorockville.com.

🚗🚗An update on a story from March that deserves a follow. On March 14, a 51-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while sunbathing on Ormond Beach, leaving her critically injured. Investigators found she had been lying just inside a traffic lane near Andy Romano Park when the driver — who was not wearing his required prescription glasses and made an illegal U-turn — ran her over. The driver remained at the scene and received traffic citations. Her son Bryan flew in from Puerto Rico and has been at her bedside around the clock since. The family reports that after weeks in a coma, she is beginning to move her hands and toes and is more alert. It is a long road, but the direction has changed. The family has set up a GoFundMe for those who wish to help.

🚧🚧The $5.1 million Hand Avenue road project has produced an unintended consequence for one of Ormond Beach's largest institutions. Prince of Peace Catholic Church, located at 600 S. Nova Road, went before the Volusia County Council Tuesday asking for a newly installed median to be removed or redesigned. The median — part of an ongoing safety improvement — blocks eastbound drivers from turning left into the church's Hand Avenue entrance, which serves the parish thrift store, the adoration chapel, and critically, a food pantry that fed over 10,000 families last year and is on pace to exceed that number in 2026. The thrift store funds the pantry. Many parishioners are seniors for whom longer detour routes present real difficulty. Church members say they received no advance notice of the access change. The county's solution — a U-turn at a nearby condo entrance — has not been well received. Ormond Beach commissioners, including Deputy Mayor Lori Tolland who is herself a parishioner, are considering writing a letter of support to the County Council. Commissioner Travis Sargent said he's also received concerns from his church, Tomoka Christian. No resolution yet, but the issue is now formally on the table.
