🌺 Taste of Ormond Moves To Fall With Island Flair

The beloved 12th annual Taste of Ormond is taking a seasonal turn — this year it’ll be held Sunday, Oct. 19 from 4–7 p.m. at Rockefeller Gardens (26 Riverside Drive), and it’s got a Hawaiian Luau twist.
Expect fire dancers, music and Polynesian flair from the troupe Polynesian Fire, and performances by Heather DeSantis. Local restaurants are contributing small plates for sampling — over two dozen in all.
Featured dishes include Alexander’s sirloin sliders, Novel Tea’s cupcakes and shortbreads, RiverGrille’s smoked ribs and pulled pork, Stonewood’s cedar plank salmon with jalapeño‑apricot glaze, and Good Vibes’s carrot cake. Tables will receive two complimentary bottles of wine; additional wine and craft beer options will be available, with a special wine/beer tasting area hosted by S.R. Perrott.

It’s the first time Taste of Ormond is happening in the fall (previously held in spring). New participating eateries this year: Alexander’s, Margarita Island, and Novel Tea Book Shop (with café).
This event is Ormond MainStreet’s only fundraiser — proceeds support marketing grants, community events, and district initiatives. Volunteer labor alone saves the organization over $150,000 annually.
Ticket costs: $100 per person, VIP: $125, tables (10 seats): $900, VIP table: $1,150.
Also available: Mixology Experience, $25 for three signature drinks (limited to 100 tickets).

🚦 New Safety Signals on Granada Boulevard

Ormond Beach has activated the first of three pedestrian hybrid beacons (PHBs) along Granada Boulevard ( between U.S. 1 and State Road A1A). The first beacon at Washington Street is now live; two others (just west of Beach Street and east of Vining Court) will follow shortly.
These beacons stay dark until a pedestrian presses a button; once activated, they cycle through flashing yellow, solid yellow, then solid red (forcing vehicles to stop), then flashing red (drivers may proceed if clear). The system is designed to alert motorists and safer crosswalk use.
The PHBs are part of a broader safety‑improvement project along SR A1A. For more on how the signals work, visit alerttodayflorida.com/Pedestrian. Additional project details can be found at CFLRoads.com/447105‑1.

🏛️ Daytona Museum Plans Bold Reinvention

Big changes are ahead for the Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS) in Daytona Beach. Though official details won’t drop until December, the plan calls for a brand‑new building near the Nova Road entrance and a reimagined museum campus.
To prepare, both the main museum and the Cici & Hyatt Brown Museum of Art will close at the end of March 2026. Only the planetarium may remain open for select events. The full re‑opening is expected in fall 2028. In the interim, programming will shift to community venues like the Ocean Center, Daytona Beach Shores Rec Center, Brannon Center, and Embry‑Riddle.
“The transformation is not just a new building,” said CEO Tabitha Schmidt. “It’s a campus expansion, rethinking exhibits, engagement, footprint.”
The project is backed by a major gift: a $150 million pledge from longtime supporters Cici & Hyatt Brown, combined with matching and additional donations. So far, they have contributed $104 million toward the total.
Some longtime exhibits have already been decommissioned; museum leadership says the future will feature more curated storytelling rather than displaying the entire collection.
