American Airlines Boosts Daytona 500 Access with Special Nonstop Flights

Do you have friends coming to the big race in February? American Airlines is set to offer special event nonstop flights from Dallas-Fort Worth and Washington, D.C., to Daytona International Speedway for the Daytona 500, along with larger aircraft from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Joanne Magley, the airport manager, expressed excitement about the addition of these flights, citing the positive impact on local tourism and the community. The airline's seasonal service to Washington, D.C., will feature twice-weekly nonstop flights from February 17 to May 5, 2024. These developments are part of ongoing efforts by the airport's air service development team to enhance connectivity and cater to the demand during major local events.

New Florida Legislation Seeks to Tighten Rules on Absentee Voting

Senate Bill 1752, introduced in Florida by State Senator Blaise Ingolia, aims to revise the state's vote-by-mail system by introducing eligibility criteria for absentee voting.

This bill would require voters to be absent from their county, ill, disabled, residing in a Veterans Affairs facility, or confined in jail to qualify for a mail-in ballot. Ramon Perez of the Digital Democracy Project argues that this change could make voting more difficult and discourage participation. The bill also proposes that voters must request a mail-in ballot for each election, as opposed to the current system where one request covers multiple elections. Perez is concerned that this could lead to voter confusion and a loss of voting opportunities.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Finds Support in Ormond Beach Amid Controversy

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, known for her right-wing stance and controversial statements, was warmly received at an Ormond Beach biker bar following the cancellation of a previous event in Kissimmee.

At the Iron Horse Saloon, Greene signed her new book and spoke on various topics, including her support for those arrested during the January 6 Capitol riot. The event doubled as a fundraiser for RD Club 40 and Bikers Against Trafficking. Despite the non-political nature of these organizations, their president, Ken Smith, acknowledged that Greene's presence helped raise awareness for their cause. Greene's book, "MTG," covers her political views and experiences related to the Capitol riot.

Outside the event, a small group of protesters, including Republicans, criticized Greene for her divisive approach and support for conspiracy theories.
