🎭 Hadestown: Teen Edition Opens at the PAC

The spotlight shines on local talent this weekend as Halifax Repertory Theatre presents Hadestown: Teen Edition at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center.

The acclaimed musical, inspired by the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, features a cast of talented young performers bringing the Tony Award-winning production to life. Performances begin Friday, July 31, and continue through Aug. 8, with both evening and weekend matinee shows available.

Whether you're a longtime theater fan or simply looking for a memorable night out, Hadestown: Teen Edition offers a chance to support local performers while enjoying one of Broadway's most celebrated modern musicals. Student and adult tickets are available through the Performing Arts Center box office.

🏈 Seabreeze Ready for the Next Step

The Seabreeze Sandcrabs officially kicked off preseason football practice this week, and Head Coach Mike Klein believes the program is ready to build on the foundation established over the past two seasons.

Entering his third year, Klein praised the team's leadership and expects a significant improvement offensively as coordinator Matt Dickmann begins his second season in the system. The Sandcrabs also return an experienced defensive line that Klein believes could become one of the team's strengths.

Sophomore quarterback Noah Bogdanowicz takes over as the starter, while senior receiver Danny Spada is embracing a leadership role by challenging teammates to maintain a high standard throughout camp.

Seabreeze opens preseason play against Matanzas on Aug. 14 before beginning the regular season Aug. 21 against Father Lopez.

🏖️ Should Daytona Beach Shores Become "The Shores"?

Daytona Beach Shores voters will decide this November whether to shorten the city's name to simply "The Shores."

Supporters of the proposal say the current name creates decades-old confusion with neighboring Daytona Beach and doesn't reflect the community's quieter, residential character. They also believe a new name would help distinguish the city for visitors, delivery services and businesses.

Not everyone is convinced, however. Some residents question whether the estimated $240,000 to $277,000 cost of replacing signs, logos, uniforms and other city materials is money well spent.

The City Commission unanimously agreed to place the proposal on the November 2026 ballot, leaving the final decision to the community's approximately 5,500 residents.

And finally, race fans can already start making plans for one of Daytona's signature events—even if it's still more than a year away.

🏁 Rolex 24 Tickets Are Already on Sale

Tickets are now available for the 2027 Rolex 24 at Daytona, scheduled for Jan. 30-31 at Daytona International Speedway. Widely regarded as one of the world's premier endurance races, the event features elite drivers from around the globe competing for 24 continuous hours on Daytona's famed road course.

Fans can also attend the Roar Before the Rolex 24 on Jan. 22-24, offering a behind-the-scenes look as teams test and fine-tune their cars before race weekend.

With Porsche Penske Motorsport chasing another overall victory and driver Felipe Nasr aiming for an unprecedented fourth consecutive Rolex 24 win, next year's event is already shaping up to be another memorable chapter in Daytona racing history.
