🚧 Daytime Lane Closures Planned on A1A in Ormond Beach

Drivers along Ocean Shore Boulevard (S.R. A1A) should plan ahead as paving operations get underway.

The Florida Department of Transportation will implement daytime lane closures beginning as early as Thursday, May 28, through June 9. Work will occur from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., with three separate segments impacted for three days each. All lanes will reopen nightly.

Traffic will be redirected in phases, with northbound vehicles temporarily shifted into southbound lanes before southbound traffic follows a detour on subsequent days.

The anticipated schedule includes:

  • May 28, 29 and June 1: East Granada Boulevard to Neptune Avenue

  • June 2–4: Neptune Avenue to Amsden Road

  • June 5, 8 and 9: Amsden Road to Standish Drive

Motorists are urged to follow posted detour signage and allow extra travel time.

🌧️ Soaking Rain and Storms Ahead for Volusia County

Keep the umbrella close — Volusia County is in for several days of unsettled weather.

A low-pressure trough in the Gulf is expected to push deep moisture into the region, increasing rain and thunderstorm chances through the weekend and possibly into early next week.

Showers began building May 27, with rain chances climbing to 80% in the afternoons through Friday. Weekend rain probabilities range between 80% and 90% during peak afternoon hours, tapering to around 50% in the mornings and evenings.

Forecasters expect between 1 and 2.5 inches of rainfall through May 31, with a 10–20% chance of totals exceeding 3 inches. While the rain may ease drought concerns, repeated storms could cause localized flooding.

Residents can also expect muggy conditions, with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s and overnight lows in the 70s. Frequent lightning will be an added concern during stronger storms.

⚠️ FBI Warns of New Microsoft 365 Phishing Scam

The FBI is alerting Americans to a fast-growing phishing scheme targeting Microsoft 365 users — and it doesn’t require stealing your password.

The scam, known as Kali365, uses AI-generated emails that appear legitimate. Victims are tricked into entering a device code on an authentic Microsoft verification page. Once entered, scammers capture OAuth access tokens, allowing them to access services like Outlook, Teams and OneDrive without additional login credentials.

That access can lead to data theft, extortion or ransomware attacks.

The FBI advises users to avoid clicking links in unsolicited emails, verify senders carefully and never open suspicious attachments. If you suspect your account has been compromised, check your Microsoft recent activity page, remove unknown devices and change your password immediately.

In 2025 alone, Americans lost nearly $21 billion to scams, with Floridians accounting for nearly $1.6 billion of those losses.

If you think you’ve been scammed report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov
and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at ic3.gov
