🚗 Late-Night Crash in Ormond Beach Under Investigation
A quiet Saturday night in Ormond Beach turned tragic when a speeding vehicle struck two pedestrians at the intersection of South Orchard Street and Division Avenue just before 11 p.m. According to the Ormond Beach Police Department, a 79-year-old driver failed to stop at a posted stop sign and hit one of the pedestrians, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Police say the driver was not physically injured but was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution after exhibiting symptoms consistent with dementia. Authorities have not announced whether charges will be filed as the investigation remains ongoing.
“This is a tragic loss of life and a difficult reminder how quickly lives can change on our roadways,” said OBPD Capt. Chris Roos, urging drivers to obey speed limits and exercise extra caution at night, when visibility is reduced and pedestrians can be harder to spot.
As investigators piece together the circumstances surrounding the crash, the community is left grappling with yet another sobering reminder of the stakes on local streets.

🚀 NASA Preps for Artemis II Fueling Rehearsal
NASA is gearing up for a critical milestone in its Artemis program: a second wet dress rehearsal for Artemis II at Kennedy Space Center. The nearly 50-hour countdown begins at 6:40 p.m. EST on Feb. 17, with a simulated launch window opening at 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 19.
The rehearsal involves loading super-cold liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen into the Space Launch System rocket, running a full countdown, recycling the clock during the final minutes, and draining the tanks. Engineers will also simulate scrub scenarios — because in rocketry, practice makes precision.
Over the weekend, teams replaced a filter in ground support equipment suspected of restricting hydrogen flow during a partial fueling test on Feb. 12. Officials say enough data was gathered to proceed confidently with this second attempt.
Although the Artemis II astronauts won’t participate in this rehearsal, ground crews will practice Orion spacecraft closeout procedures, including hatch operations. If all goes smoothly, March 6 stands as the earliest possible launch opportunity, pending data reviews and final preparations.
Artemis II will mark the first crewed test flight of the Artemis program, aiming to return astronauts to lunar orbit for the first time since the Apollo era — and setting the stage for future missions to Mars.

🎤 Super Bowl Show Sparks FCC Debate
And finally, from rocket science to pop culture politics.
After his Super Bowl 60 halftime performance, global music star Bad Bunny found himself at the center of a political storm. Florida Congressman Randy Fine called the show “disgusting” and “illegal,” urging the Federal Communications Commission to investigate whether it violated broadcast decency rules.
Fine cited lyrics from the 2020 song “Safaera,” though Spanish-speaking reporters noted that the most explicit verse referenced was not included in the televised medley. NBC reportedly bleeped other potentially objectionable words during the 13-minute performance, which drew an estimated 128.2 million viewers.
The FCC has not confirmed any violations. Meanwhile, social media lit up — including a tongue-in-cheek response from actor Ben Stiller, who joked that investigators should instead focus on how Bad Bunny delivered one of the most-watched halftime shows ever.
Jennifer Jenkins, a Democratic challenger in Florida’s 6th Congressional District, also weighed in, suggesting that basic fact-checking — and perhaps a quick Google search — might have clarified what was actually broadcast.
As of now, no formal FCC action has been announced, leaving the debate to play out in the court of public opinion.
