🌧️ Stormy Skies Ahead in Volusia County
Flood Watch is the phrase of the weekend for Volusia County residents, as the National Weather Service has issued an alert through Sunday morning, Oct. 5. Up to 5 inches of rainfall could soak coastal areas, prompting concerns for flooding near canals, streams, and low-lying properties. Meanwhile, a High Surf Advisory remains in effect with 5 to 8 feet waves and a strong rip current risk—so maybe skip the surfboard.
Public Works crews are working preemptively, clearing drainage paths and prepping for any flooding emergencies. County officials are urging residents to stay weather-aware, avoid flooded roads, and steer clear of ocean dips. Stay updated via Volusia County's social channels, emergency management app, or the National Weather Service website.

🎤 Ocean Center Hopes for Encore with $40M Makeover
Daytona Beach’s Ocean Center is tuning up for a revival. Once graced by legends like Frank Sinatra, Cher, and Elton John, the venue is getting a $40 million facelift to mark its 40th anniversary. The goal? A comeback tour featuring A-list acts.
Concert promoter Danny Wimmer Presents—of Welcome to Rockville fame—will now handle bookings, hinting at a future packed with big-name performances. Renovations include everything from arena flooring and LED lighting to VIP suites and upgraded sound systems. But the pivot will be gradual. The Ocean Center is still focused on conventions and trade shows that pump revenue into the local hotel economy.
With new leadership and a commitment to quality, Daytona may soon become a hot ticket on the touring circuit again.

🧘♀️ Hot Yoga Lounge Heats Up in Ormond & Flagler
Hot Yoga Lounge is striking a powerful pose in Volusia and Flagler. Owners Heather Doutrick and Stephaney Erdman recently opened a new location in Ormond Beach and have just acquired One Love Yoga in Flagler Beach, expanding their footprint from the original Palm Coast studio.
Located at 400 S. Atlantic Ave. in Ormond Beach, the new studio is already bustling with group classes and workshops—and there are plans for sunrise and beach yoga. Meanwhile, the acquisition of One Love Yoga on Oct. 1 came as a serendipitous bonus, adding another serene space to their wellness mission.
What started as a dream years ago is now a rapidly growing community for both long-time yogis and newcomers. Doutrick sums it up best: “Ideally, what we want is this will be their second home.”

🎶 Ormond Beach Live Delivers Local Color and Sound
Ormond Beach was alive with sound and color during the seventh annual Ormond Beach Live festival, held Sept. 27 at The Casements, Rockefeller Gardens, and Fortunato Park. Over 100 musicians performed on 14 stages while more than 70 vendors offered everything from handmade candles to IV hydration.
The original music and art event, presented by Songwriters Showcases of America, drew crowds young and old. Kids had their own fun with mural painting and karaoke, and the youth art contest again crowned young Marilyn Welch, who won for the second year in a row.
Among the festival highlights were first-time vendors like Salty Drip IV Hydration and first-time performers like Ormond Beach-based band Sober Cafe. It was a day that celebrated creativity, community, and a whole lot of local pride.

⛈️ Palm Coast’s Creekside Festival Delayed by Weather
Mother Nature has RSVP’d “no” to this weekend’s Creekside Festival in Palm Coast. The popular event, originally set for Oct. 4-5, has been rescheduled for Feb. 7-8, 2026, due to expected thunderstorms and high surf conditions.
Hosted at Princess Place Preserve, the Creekside Festival typically draws crowds for its mix of bluegrass, arts and crafts, and family-friendly activities. But safety comes first, especially with forecasts calling for 80% rain and coastal flooding.
Stay updated on the new festival date and details at flaglerbroadcasting.com.
