🍦 The Frozen Frog Serves Up Community Alongside Sweet Treats
A new ice cream destination is bringing more than just frozen desserts to Ormond Beach. The Frozen Frog, located in Ormond Towne Square on West Granada Boulevard, officially opened its doors with a mission centered on family, faith, and fellowship.
The business is the result of a partnership between mother and daughter Debbie and Kryste Gainey, whose entrepreneurial journey began with a simple snow cone trailer. What started as a small venture eventually grew into a much larger vision after Debbie spotted an empty storefront and imagined an ice cream shop in its place. Although Kryste initially doubted the idea, the pair ultimately turned that vision into reality.
Today, customers can enjoy Hershey’s ice cream flavors, milkshakes, sundaes, shaved ice, and gluten-free options while gathering in a welcoming atmosphere. The shop’s slogan, “Cool Treats. Warm Smiles,” reflects the owners’ desire to create a place where families can slow down, connect, and enjoy time together. Even the business name carries special meaning, as FROG stands for “Fully Rely On God,” a principle the family says guides both their business and their lives.

🏨 New Oceanfront Marriott Hotel Set to Open This Summer
Ormond Beach is preparing to welcome its first newly constructed oceanfront hotel in more than a decade as the new Residence Inn by Marriott moves toward an August opening. Located at 251 South Atlantic Avenue, the five-story property will offer 137 guest rooms, most featuring ocean views and all equipped with full-size kitchens designed for extended stays.
The hotel will include a restaurant, bar, and oceanfront pool, providing both visitors and residents with a new hospitality destination along the beachfront. General Manager Jeremiah Drummond believes the Marriott brand will help elevate Ormond Beach’s appeal while offering accommodations tailored to families and longer-term guests.
Construction is currently ahead of schedule, and the project has already delivered a community benefit through the addition of a new public beach access ramp at Seminole Avenue. City leaders have expressed enthusiasm about the development, noting its potential to support tourism and economic growth. With the finishing touches now underway, the Residence Inn is poised to become one of the city's most significant hospitality investments in recent years and a new landmark along the coastline.
