Severe Penalty for Tamara Sytch Following Fatal DUI Incident in Ormond Beach

Former pro-wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer Tamara Sytch, aged 50, was sentenced to 17.6 years in prison on November 27, following a fatal three-car crash she caused in Ormond Beach in 2022. Under the influence of drugs and alcohol, Sytch was involved in a collision on North Yonge Street, resulting in the death of a 75-year-old man and minor injuries to others.

Sytch pleaded guilty in August to charges including driving without a license with death, DUI manslaughter, and multiple counts of DUI with damage to person and property. Ormond Beach Police Chief Jesse Godfrey expressed hope that the sentence would bring some relief to the victim's family and friends. He commended the efforts of officers, civilian employees, and prosecutors in bringing Sytch to justice and acknowledged the danger she posed on the roads.

On the day of the crash, Sytch was driving at high speed and rear-ended the victim’s vehicle, which was stationary at a red light, causing it to collide with another vehicle. The victim died at the scene, and the occupants of the third vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Sytch's Blood Alcohol Concentration was reported to be between .32 and .34, significantly above the legal limit, and she had an open bottle of vodka and marijuana in her system. State Attorney R.J. Larizza condemned her history of drinking and driving, stating she was "Death On Wheels" and highlighting the inevitability of a tragic incident due to her reckless behavior.

Google to Initiate Inactive Account Purge Today, December 1

Take notice! If you have an old Google account laying around, Google is set to implement a major policy change Today, December 1, targeting inactive accounts for deletion. This initiative, announced earlier in May, focuses on enhancing security by removing accounts that have been dormant for over two years, including those created but never or only briefly used.

The rationale behind this decision, as per sources, centers around the increased vulnerability of inactive accounts. These accounts often rely on outdated or reused passwords and lack essential security measures like two-factor authentication, making them more susceptible to compromise.

The impending purge will affect various Google services such as Google Calendar, Drive, Docs, Gmail, Meet, and Photos. Notably, accounts containing YouTube videos or active subscriptions will be exempt from this policy. Furthermore, the change only applies to personal accounts, sparing those associated with businesses, educational institutions, and other organizations.

For users wishing to retain their Google accounts, the process is relatively straightforward. Active engagement with the account, such as signing in, reading or sending an email, utilizing Google Drive, watching YouTube videos, downloading apps from the Google Play Store, using Google Search, or logging into third-party services with Google credentials, is sufficient to prevent deletion.

Google advises users to ensure their accounts have updated recovery email addresses. The company plans to send multiple notifications to both the primary and recovery email addresses to alert users of potential account deletions. For users who have forgotten their account credentials, Google provides a recovery process. This process can be initiated through their website for most Google accounts and specifically for Gmail.

Additionally, for those managing accounts of deceased individuals or users who cannot access their accounts, Google recommends using Google Takeout to download and preserve the account data.

Kosher Cuisine Returns to Ormond Beach with Gili's Kitchen Opening

Photo Ormond Local Pulse

In a move that revitalizes the kosher dining landscape in Ormond Beach, Gili’s Kitchen OB, a new Mediterranean-inspired kosher eatery, commenced its operations this past spring. The restaurant, co-owned by Ricki Ben Simon and her brother-in-law, Gili Ben Simon, occupies the former site of Eden Fresh Café at 188 E. Granada Blvd, marking a significant step in filling the void left by the recent closures of local kosher establishments Eden Fresh Café and J Grill.

Ricki Ben Simon, an Israeli native who has resided in Jacksonville for 18 years, embarked on this venture after recognizing a need in the community. The decision to open a kosher restaurant was influenced by her desire to offer something unique in the culinary scene. According to sources, the distinctiveness of Gili’s Kitchen lies in its innovative serving methods and the use of unique ingredients.

Gili Ben Simon, the namesake of the restaurant, brings over two decades of experience in the catering and restaurant industry, having honed his skills in Israel, Cambodia, and Paris. His culinary expertise is a cornerstone of the restaurant's appeal, with Ricki Ben Simon noting that his cooking is "on a different level."

The duo initially focused on catering through their Jacksonville restaurant, also named Gili’s Kitchen, which opened in 2018. However, they soon shifted their focus to establishing a restaurant presence. Both the Jacksonville and Ormond Beach locations offer catering service.

Gili’s Kitchen OB aims to cater to a diverse clientele, including the sizable Jewish community in Ormond Beach and tourists. The menu is a blend of traditional Jewish fare like falafel, shawarma, and matzoh ball soup, alongside more universal offerings such as burgers and Philly cheesesteaks.

Ricki Ben Simon also shed light on the principles of kosher food, emphasizing the humane treatment of animals and the meticulous health checks involved, overseen by a certified shochet.

Gili's Kitchen is located at 188 E Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, and is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 8pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 8pm, while remaining closed on Fridays and Saturdays. You can order online or reserve a table, and Gili’s has drive through options as well. They can be reached at (386) 265-1424.
