Young Entrepreneurs Emerge at Montessori Global's Annual Event
The Montessori Global Research Institute recently hosted its annual Entrepreneur Night, an event that showcases the entrepreneurial projects of its students. Held at the institute's campus in Ormond Beach, the event turned into a marketplace where students displayed, demonstrated, and sold their creations. The initiative is part of the institute's educational approach, aiming to give students a thorough understanding of the entrepreneurial process.
According to a press release, the program is designed to equip students with practical business insights at an early age. Omar Saleh, the Director of School Operations, expressed his admiration for the students' innovative products and ideas. He highlighted the institute's goal of instilling business acumen in young learners, fostering a sense of curiosity and understanding about the creation and operation of successful businesses. The success of this year's event, as observed by Saleh, indicates that the institute is achieving its educational objectives.
Exploring the Forgotten Ruins of Ormond Beach's Parrot's Paradise
Nestled in a jungle-like area off Division Avenue in Ormond Beach, the ruins of Parrot's Paradise, a once-popular tourist attraction, have been rediscovered. The site's history dates back to 1932 when Henry T. Stockmans created Ormond Tropical Gardens on over 100 acres of land. The gardens were renowned for their vast collection of subtropical and tropical flora and a record-breaking magnolia tree. However, the attraction closed in 1952 due to declining attendance.
In 1957, John Powell revived the area as Parrot's Paradise, featuring a diverse array of birds, deer, and monkeys. The attraction remained operational until the mid-1960s but had disappeared by the early 1970s, with occasional monkey sightings reported in the 1980s. A recent exploration of the site uncovered remnants of its past, including an old rock bench and a large concrete toadstool, providing a tangible connection to its history. This discovery highlights the importance of preserving and exploring local historical sites, offering insights into the region's cultural and recreational past.
