Daytona Beach Man Faces Charges in Bus Stabbing and Robbery

Tacaie Harris, 42, was arrested in Daytona Beach for allegedly stabbing and robbing a man on a bus. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when Harris reportedly attacked the victim, who was on his phone, stabbing him in the neck and back before taking his backpack.

The bus driver halted the vehicle and prevented Harris from re-entering after the attack. The victim, who was hospitalized, has been released. Harris faces charges of attempted felony murder and robbery with a weapon and is held without bond. A Volusia County spokesperson lamented the incident, praising the bus driver's response and affirming the county's focus on safety and cooperation with the investigation.

Ormond Beach Historical Society Unveils Restored Model of Famed Ormond Hotel

The Ormond Hotel, an iconic landmark in Ormond Beach built in 1887, has been immortalized in a meticulously restored scale model. Originally a luxury resort expanded by Henry Flagler, the hotel was a significant wooden structure with 400 rooms, hosting notable guests like John D. Rockefeller Sr. Converted into a retirement home in the 1950s, it was later deemed hazardous and demolished in 1992, with only the cupola preserved.

The model, created by Dr. Wayne Lowell and refurbished by Don Bostrom, underwent extensive restoration by modelmaker Mark Bigelow. It is now displayed at the MacDonald House in Ormond Beach, open to the public, showcasing the hotel's historical significance.

Ormond Beach To Celebrate Perego with Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award

Artist, performer, and activist Perego is set to receive the “Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award” and the “President’s Volunteer Service Medal” on January 16 at Rose Villa Restaurant in Ormond Beach. The awards, presented by Dr. Khalilah Camacho Ali on behalf of President Joe Biden, recognize Perego's extensive contributions to society and his dedication to community service.

Perego's notable career includes art direction for major entertainment companies and impactful public art, such as the acclaimed mural in DeLand. He is also the founder of the Art Army, a global movement of artists using creativity for positive change. The award ceremony is open to the public and will be part of a larger art party event celebrating Perego's achievements and influence in the art world running from 6pm-12M at the Rose Villa, 31 Supperclub and Kona Tiki Bar, downtown Ormond Beach at 43 W. Granada Blvd.. The award ceremony will be held at 9p.m..
