Ormond Beach Grapples with Waste Pro Over $560,000 Fee Dispute

Ormond Beach is currently navigating a complex dispute with Waste Pro of Florida over franchise fees, with over $560,000 at stake. The disagreement arose following a contract extension approved in early 2023, which included adjustments for inflation and unforeseen costs. Waste Pro contends it was underpaid due to a discrepancy in franchise fee calculations, claiming the city owes an additional $560,647.64. Despite differences, both parties have expressed a desire to resolve the matter, with the city highlighting the fees' importance for funding essential services. Mayor Bill Partington believes a miscommunication led to the dispute but remains hopeful for a resolution that maintains the city's positive relationship with Waste Pro.

Georgia Couple Arrested in Florida for Child Neglect After Being Found Intoxicated on Beach

A couple from Georgia, Timothy Stephens and Alyssia Langley, were arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, for child neglect after being found intoxicated and asleep on the beach, with their children missing.
