Sara Meinking has launched Sea Dreams by Sara, an art gift shop in Ormond Beach, featuring creations from 38 local artists. The store, which opened in late May, was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community members and Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington. Meinking, who previously worked in healthcare, aimed to offer a piece of Florida through art and gifts. The shop will host fundraisers, including a Sip and Shop on September 18 for Community Cats of Palm Coast, and will partner with local nonprofits for future events. Sea Dreams by Sara also provides a venue for community gatherings and aims to enrich Ormond Beach’s cultural scene.

Sales-Tax Holidays Begin Today in Florida for Hurricane Supplies and Tools

AI Generated Image

Starting today, Florida will launch a sales-tax holiday to help residents prepare for hurricanes by offering tax breaks on storm-related supplies. Running through September 6, this initiative follows a similar tax break from June. Additionally, a “tool time” holiday from September 1 to 7 will provide tax exemptions on work tools and gear. These measures, part of a new tax package, aim to ease financial burdens during the peak of hurricane season. The holidays are projected to save shoppers $80.2 million and $19.8 million, respectively.
