🍕 Pizzeria Owner Pleads Not Guilty in Drug Case

Leonard Fries Jr., the man behind Lenny’s New York Pizza in Ormond Beach and Ormond-by-the-Sea, is making headlines for more than his slices. He was arrested on serious drug trafficking charges by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, which claims Fries was running a drug operation from his upscale home in the Eagle Rock community. Deputies reportedly uncovered cocaine, marijuana, meth, paraphernalia—and even a marijuana grow setup.

Fries, who has no prior felony convictions, pleaded not guilty through his attorney, who says the case is being overstated. Notably, his seized vehicles bore law enforcement support tags, adding an ironic twist. With over $145,000 in bond posted, Fries’ future now lies in the hands of the courts, not customers.

⛳ Residents Push for Riverbend Golf Course Revival

While the city eyes biking trails and aviation facilities for the former Riverbend Golf Course site, Ormond Beach residents are asking: can we bring back the green? At a recent City Commission meeting, residents voiced support for restoring the 172-acre golf course, now shuttered since 2020. In response, commissioners agreed to ask the FAA directly if a course could still be allowed—and if so, whether an operator might be willing to take it on.

But city leaders remain skeptical, citing hefty renovation costs and uncertainty about finding someone willing to invest millions in a leased property. With proposed park plans a year in the making, the question remains whether Ormond Beach’s past pastime has a shot at a second life—or stays in the rough.

🎧 Veteran Amplifies Support for Tinnitus Awareness

Sal Gentile of Ormond Beach is waging a quiet but impactful battle—against tinnitus. The Army National Guard veteran was diagnosed in 2010 after a sudden onslaught of persistent ear ringing that never faded. Instead of accepting “live with it” as the final word, Gentile leaned in. He’s spent 15 years helping others through the American Tinnitus Association, offering guidance and support for those suffering from the same invisible condition.

As a longtime support group leader, Gentile’s mission is simple: raise awareness and remind others they’re not alone. For those seeking help or information, contact the ATA at www.ata.org or 1-800-634-8978.

🏥 Complete Health Expands Downtown Ormond Facility

Complete Health is growing right along with Ormond Beach. The downtown primary care center at 77 W. Granada Blvd. has kicked off an expansion project that will include five new exam rooms, expanded provider offices, and a more spacious waiting area. The improvements, led by contractor Marshall B. Bone, Inc., are expected to wrap up this summer.

The expansion is a response to increased patient demand and a commitment to enhancing care, said both Dr. Brittany Jones and newly appointed practice manager Jose Bermudez. Complete Health currently operates eight senior-focused clinics in Volusia County. To schedule an appointment or learn more, visit CompleteHealth.com or call 386-677-0453.
