🕊️ Remembering John Thrasher: A Legacy of Leadership

Florida is mourning the loss of a public servant whose influence reached across politics, education, and community. John Thrasher, former FSU president, Florida House speaker, and state senator representing Flagler and parts of Volusia, passed away on May 30 at age 81 following a battle with cancer. Known for his integrity and dedication, Thrasher was instrumental in reshaping Florida's education system and strengthening the Republican Party during a critical time.

His presidency at FSU marked a period of transformation and growth, including the launch of the university’s medical school. Widely respected across party lines, Thrasher’s life was celebrated by everyone from former Gov. Jeb Bush to current state leaders. A private burial will be held, with a public celebration of life planned for August 19 at FSU’s Ruby Diamond Concert Hall.

🌪️ Hurricane Season Is Here—And It Might Be a Rough One

Hurricane season officially kicked off on June 1, and early forecasts suggest this could be a particularly active year. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicts 13 to 19 named storms, with as many as 10 becoming hurricanes—and up to five of those potentially reaching major hurricane status.

Florida leads the nation in hurricane landfalls, so experts are urging residents not to wait until the skies darken to prepare. Stocking up on supplies, reviewing evacuation plans, and staying up to date with forecasts are key. With storms like Helene and Milton still fresh in memory, officials emphasize that even one hurricane can make for a devastating season.

The peak typically runs from mid-August to mid-October, but as past years have shown, storms can form earlier and intensify quickly.

🛒 Hidden Deals on Amazon? Here’s How to Shop Smarter

If you love a good deal but hate digging through online clutter, Amazon Resale (formerly Amazon Warehouse) might be your new favorite trick. This lesser-known section of Amazon offers major markdowns on open-box and gently used items—ranging from electronics to home goods—graded through a 20-point quality process.

Whether it’s a tie-dye kit with a dented box or a “like-new” gadget you’d never know wasn’t brand new, the key is to move fast. Quantities are typically limited to a single item, and condition levels like "Used – Very Good" or "Renewed" help guide your expectations.

Experts suggest sticking with listings marked “Fulfilled by Amazon” for safe returns and easy support. Add items to your “Save for Later” list and track price drops to score serious savings. Turns out, paying full price might just be a thing of the past. See all details at the source.
