💰 Million-Dollar Impact from Ormond Beach Couple

Ormond Beach residents Larry and Andrea Frank have officially joined the Million Dollar Roundtable, a nationwide honor reserved for those whose charitable giving exceeds $1 million. Over the past five years, the Franks have donated more than $980,000 in over 90 grants to causes including food insecurity, healthcare, education, and crisis relief. Their generosity earned them a spot in the local 1941 Society, with just one other Volusia couple holding that distinction.

Larry credits the Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties for guiding their giving to high-impact nonprofits. He emphasized that effective philanthropy isn't just for the ultra-wealthy — even modest but consistent donations can make a real difference.

"Whatever resources I have, I want them to go as far as possible," he said.

👶 AdventHealth Steps Up for Moms and Babies

AdventHealth Daytona Beach is investing $250,000 in Baby Steps Daytona, a new prenatal clinic serving expectant mothers who are uninsured or struggling to access care. Located on South Keech Street, the clinic is a partnership with the Florida Department of Health and local OB-GYNs.

Led by Dr. Pam Carbiener, the clinic uses The JJ Way care model — emphasizing dignity, advocacy, and early intervention — to reduce emergency births and ensure healthier outcomes for both moms and babies. Services include prenatal checkups, mental health support, and assistance with housing, food, and legal needs.

Dr. Carbiener emphasized the importance of early engagement: “We’re here to meet expecting moms early, build trust, and give them and their babies the strong start they deserve.”

🚨 Deputy Resigns After Arrest for Fake Tag

A Volusia County Sheriff’s Office deputy is off the force after a weekend arrest involving a counterfeit license plate. Erica Muzzy, 26, was taken into custody after being spotted riding a motorcycle with a flipped-up tag reading “CHASEM3.” The arrest occurred near I-4 in Deltona late Saturday night.

Authorities allege Muzzy had earlier fled a traffic stop while with a group of other riders. Detectives later discovered social media videos of her engaging in “reckless stunt riding.” She was booked on a $2,500 bond and released early Sunday. Muzzy, who joined the force in 2021, has since resigned, and an internal investigation is underway.

While the VSO emphasized accountability, the incident also raises concerns about off-duty conduct and public trust in law enforcement.
