🏥 Rehab Center Expands to Meet Rising Needs

Halifax Health Brooks Rehabilitation is growing to better serve the community. Located at Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, the center has added 12 new private beds to its already impressive 40-bed facility. Known for its accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), the center specializes in stroke, brain injury, cancer, and other complex rehabilitation needs—one of only three in the state with a CARF-accredited cancer rehab program.

Since opening in 2013, the facility has helped countless Central Floridians reclaim their independence. Halifax Health’s Jamie Boudreau, a former patient, credits the team with her recovery after Guillain-Barré Syndrome: “If I didn’t have Halifax Health Brooks Rehabilitation to support me, I don’t feel I’d be walking today.”

🌿 July Brings Adventures with Explore Volusia

Looking to get outside this summer? Volusia County has you covered with its July lineup of Explore Volusia programs. It kicks off July 1 with a free presentation at the Port Orange Regional Library where attendees can learn about the County’s 38,000+ acres of conservation land.

The real fun, though, happens outdoors. On July 2, families can dip-net in the salt marshes at Spruce Creek. Later in the month, a night paddle on July 24 in Mosquito Lagoon promises the otherworldly glow of bioluminescence. For early risers, a July 30 morning paddle winds through mangroves and oyster beds in search of dolphins near Strickland Bay.

Bring your own kayak or use one of the County’s sit-on-tops—just don’t forget your life jacket and whistle. These programs are designed to connect residents with nature, one paddle at a time.
