🍔 Sliders Coming To LPGA
White Castle is expanding its Florida footprint with a fresh new location in Daytona Beach. The iconic fast-food chain has signed a lease for a restaurant at 1944 LPGA Blvd., right near Clyde Morris Boulevard. This will mark White Castle’s fourth free-standing restaurant in the Sunshine State—and yes, it's bringing the chain’s signature sliders along with over 70 new jobs.
The restaurant will feature White Castle’s modern “neighborhood” design, two drive-thru lanes, and indoor/outdoor seating. It's expected to open its doors in late summer 2026.
Jamie T. Richardson, vice president of White Castle, says Daytona Beach’s “fun-loving” vibe makes it the perfect fit. “We’re eager to meet the crave and become part of the fabric of this community,” he added.
Looks like the World’s Most Famous Beach is getting a side of sliders with that sunshine.

🕊️ Riverbend Church Faces Abuse Investigation
Meanwhile in Ormond Beach, a somber and serious investigation is underway. The Ormond Beach Police Department has launched an official probe into Riverbend Community Church following reports of sexual abuse spanning back to the early 2000s.
Anonymous testimonies and a survivors’ coalition letter allege that many women—some as young as 15 at the time—were manipulated or abused by male church leaders. A troubling survey of 63 women found nearly 30% experienced coercion or inappropriate behavior from adult members of the church while they were minors.
The church elders have publicly stated they were previously unaware of the claims, calling the revelations “brokenhearted” and vowing a commitment to “truth, safety, transparency, and justice.”
The investigation is active, and authorities are urging any potential victims or witnesses to come forward.

🚗 Road Rules for Labor Day Travelers
Labor Day weekend is nearly here, and Florida is bracing for a surge in sunshine-seeking visitors. According to AAA, both Orlando and Miami rank among the Top 10 travel destinations in the U.S. this holiday weekend.
With domestic flight prices down 6% compared to last year and gas prices staying steady (barring any storms), road-trippers are expected to hit the highways in droves.
If you're planning to travel, aim for early morning departures. INRIX recommends avoiding afternoon and early evening drives, especially on Thursday through Saturday. Saturday morning (6–10 a.m.) is your best bet to beat the crowd; Saturday afternoon is the time to avoid at all costs.
Whether you’re beach-bound or backyard-chilling, plan accordingly—and pack some patience for those inevitable slowdowns.
