📚 Moms Do the Right Thing After $50K School Vandalism
Not in Ormond BUT..in Deltona, two young suspects learned the hard way that moms don’t play when it comes to doing the right thing. Over the weekend, Friendship Elementary School’s media center was left in ruins—bookshelves overturned, graffiti on doors, and debris everywhere. A fire alarm tipped off deputies, who discovered the mess and later shared shocking images online.
The twist? The suspects, aged 12 and 13, were turned in by their own mothers. Sheriff Mike Chitwood praised the parents’ actions, stating the boys confessed and are now facing multiple charges, including burglary, trespassing, theft, and criminal mischief.
Deltona Mayor Santiago Avila called the act “unacceptable and inexcusable,” and noted that the damage could cost upwards of $50,000 to repair. The sheriff’s office revealed that the boys initially broke in during the day—only to return later to admire (and worsen) the damage. Talk about misguided pride.

🐢 Sea Turtle Smuggler Busted with Eggs and Drugs
From bad decisions to bizarre ones: An Ormond Beach man was caught snoozing in his truck outside a home in Flagler he was legally banned from. A routine patrol stop turned into something straight out of “Florida Man” headlines when a deputy discovered the man not only had various drugs in the vehicle—but also five sea turtle eggs.
According to the arrest report, the eggs were found in a plastic container on the truck floorboard. The man claimed he "found them washed up on the beach," along with a jar of fentanyl. Along with the endangered wildlife violation, he was charged with drug possession and violating a court-ordered injunction.
He now faces ten misdemeanor counts related to the turtle eggs and a cocktail of drug-related charges. Sea turtle nesting season just got a little safer—thanks to some keen deputy work.

🚨 Shooting at Ormond-by-the-Sea Circle K Leaves One Dead
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting at a Circle K in Ormond-by-the-Sea. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. yesterday at Ocean Shore Boulevard and Wisteria Drive. One man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have detained two persons of interest, though their identities and any motive remain undisclosed as of now. The investigation is active, and more updates are expected in the coming days.
For now, the local community is left grappling with unanswered questions and yet another reminder of the importance of public safety and swift law enforcement response.
