🏥 New ER on the Way Near I-95

Ormond Beach’s Planning Board gave a unanimous nod to a new 12-bed freestanding emergency department by AdventHealth, planned for 1561 N. U.S. 1. This one-story facility will span 13,451 square feet and feature a helipad for quick emergency access. Positioned near the I-95 interchange, it aims to shorten emergency response times in a critical corridor.

The site, previously home to a Wendy’s and gas station, will undergo further environmental cleanup through Florida’s Brownfield Program. AdventHealth hopes to brgin construction in fall of 2027 , with the build acting as a potential catalyst for redevelopment along U.S. 1. A zoning change to Planned Business Development was approved, and board members supported the hospital's request for taller monument signage to improve visibility during emergencies.

With the next closest hospital 7 miles away, this new ED could make a life-saving difference when every second counts.

🖼️ Local Student’s Art Spreads Message of Peace

Big congratulations to Piper Reis, a student at Academic Oasis in Ormond Beach, whose artwork was selected as the local winner in the 2025 International Peace Poster contest. Hosted by the Ormond Beach Lions Club, this year’s theme was “Together as One”—a sentiment Piper clearly captured with creativity and heart.

Piper's piece now advances to the next level, where it will be judged against other regional entries. The Lions Club Peace Poster contest encourages young artists to express visions of peace through art and has become a meaningful tradition for students worldwide.

🚫 Undercover Sting Catches 3 Ormond Stores Selling to Minors

In a recent undercover operation targeting underage sales, 31 stores across Volusia County were found selling alcohol or tobacco to a buyer under 21. Out of 59 stores visited, three of the violations happened right here in Ormond Beach:

  • 7-11 at 3 N. Yonge St. – Sold beer

  • Sunoco at 5 N. Yonge St. – Sold beer

  • Citgo at 550 Ridgewood Ave, Holly Hill – Sold beer

This operation, led by the East and West Volusia Narcotics Task Forces and local Crime Suppression Teams, will result in charges being filed with the State Attorney’s Office. Officials urge local businesses to retrain staff on ID verification procedures to prevent further violations.
