Welcome to Rockville 2026 Drops Epic Lineup

Turn it up—Welcome to Rockville is back and louder than ever. Organizers just unveiled the full 2026 lineup for the annual Daytona Beach music festival, and it’s stacked with rock royalty.

Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, and Bring Me the Horizon headline the four-day fest, slated for May 7–10 at Daytona International Speedway. And the rest of the bill? Just about every major act in rock and metal today, from Alice Cooper and The Offspring to Staind, Rise Against, and Five Finger Death Punch.

Palm Coast can also cheer on local pride: The Paradox, featuring two Matanzas High School grads, will take the stage after opening for Green Day last year. With over 160 bands and a renewed commitment to keep Rockville at the Speedway through 2035, it’s shaping up to be the ultimate 15th anniversary blowout.

🏗️ Church Rebuild to Bring New Life to Ormond Beach Campus

The First United Methodist Church of Ormond Beach is gearing up for a major transformation. With unanimous approval from the City Commission, the church will demolish its longtime southern building, dating back to the 1950s, to make way for a larger and more modern multi-purpose facility.

The new two-story structure will add over 3,000 square feet to the site and include classrooms, restrooms, kitchen space, and two large configurable gathering rooms. A vinyl fence and retaining wall will buffer the space from neighboring homes, and a redesigned parking lot will bump total spaces to 214.

While the project has sparked some nostalgia—Commissioner Harold Briley recalled being christened in the old sanctuary—church officials see it as a much-needed upgrade for the community. Construction is expected to take 12 to 18 months.

💧 Ormond, Daytona Tussle Over $2.3M Water Rights Offer

Meanwhile, another kind of construction controversy is brewing—this time in the legal arena. The Ormond Beach City Commission is poised to enter a shade meeting (read: behind closed doors) to hash out a $2.3 million settlement offer from Daytona Beach. At stake: who gets to provide water and wastewater services for the massive 3,000-acre Avalon Park development.

The dispute dates back to 2021, and stems from overlapping agreements made in 2006 that designated the area as Ormond’s service zone. Daytona Beach argues that sticking to those terms could cost them “millions and millions” and wants to buy Ormond out.

With a non-jury trial set for December (pending any delays), both sides are navigating a complex web of legal obligations, development ambitions, and inter-city tensions. A public workshop to explain the situation more clearly may also be on the horizon.

🛑 Charlie Kirk Road Proposal Meets Community Resistance

Things got heated at the Nov. 18 Volusia County Council meeting as residents turned out in force to oppose a proposal to name part of Maytown Road in Osteen after conservative pundit Charlie Kirk.

Council Chair Jeff Brower introduced the motion to honor Kirk—who was shot and killed in September—for his civic activism. But many in the audience pushed back, citing Kirk’s history of controversial statements on race, LGBTQ+ rights, and immigration. Some turned their backs in protest, while others vocally condemned the idea as divisive.

While only a few supported the motion, including local Turning Point USA members, the proposal was ultimately tabled “indefinitely.” The Council instead plans to discuss how to set broader policies on naming public infrastructure—perhaps sidestepping future controversy.
