👶 New Year, New Babies Arrive in Volusia County
The first cries of 2026 rang out across Volusia County as hospitals celebrated their first babies of the year. Halifax Health welcomed baby girl Bethany Grace at 10:54 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces, Bethany made a perfect entrance, much to the joy of her mom, Katelynn Robinson, who said, “She’s so new and so perfect. We feel blessed.” Halifax Health sweetened the moment with a baby gift basket and a complimentary photo package.
Over at AdventHealth Daytona Beach, baby Everly arrived fashionably late at 11:10 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 5 ounces. She was the third baby born within AdventHealth’s East Florida Division that day. The first baby, Hayden Shane Overfield, was born at 1:18 a.m. at AdventHealth Waterman, followed by baby Ella Annalise Bird at 4:09 a.m. at AdventHealth Fish Memorial in Orange City.
It's safe to say 2026 is off to a heartwarming start.

🎨 Daytona’s Splatzz Lets You Get Messy — On Purpose
Next up, something a bit splashier. Splatzz, a vibrant new paint-splattering studio in Daytona Beach, is redefining creative expression — and yes, making a mess is encouraged. With black lights, retro vibes, and a no-rules attitude, this artsy hotspot welcomes all ages to throw, splatter, and spin their way into one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
Owner Geri Reeves says Splatzz is more than fun; it’s therapeutic. Inspired by Jackson Pollock, Reeves built the studio for everyone — no experience required. “You do not have to be an artist,” she promises. Guests cover up head to toe before entering the glow-in-the-dark chaos. From canvases to T-shirts (and occasionally each other), the creativity is as unfiltered as it gets.
It’s become a family-favorite destination where color runs wild and judgment is left at the door. Whether you're decorating your laundry room wall or discovering your hidden talent, Splatzz is about joy, self-expression, and getting gloriously messy.
