⚖️ Local Law Firm Invests in Future Legal Leaders
Kistemaker Business Law Group is continuing a tradition of mentoring future attorneys as it welcomes two college students into its 14th annual Summer Internship Program. This year's interns, Jillian Norko of the University of Miami and Ormond Beach native Isabella Lisowski of Florida State University, will gain firsthand experience in real estate, business, construction, landlord-tenant and community association law. Throughout the program, the interns will work alongside attorneys, participate in professional development workshops, network with members of the local legal community and receive one-on-one mentoring. Managing Attorney Erum Kistemaker said the firm takes pride in helping talented students explore legal careers while building skills that will benefit them long after graduation.

🌺 Bethune-Cookman Celebrates Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune's Legacy
Bethune-Cookman University commemorated the 151st birthday of founder Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune with its annual tradition of laying wreaths at her gravesite and statue on campus. Students, faculty, alumni and community members gathered to honor the educator, civil rights leader and humanitarian whose vision continues to shape the university more than a century after its founding. University President Dr. Albert D. Mosley encouraged attendees to recommit themselves to Bethune's values of faith, education and service while preparing future generations of leaders. The celebration also featured a free children's fun zone at Daisy Stocking Park and an archival exhibit highlighting Dr. Bethune's remarkable life and lasting impact on Daytona Beach and beyond.

🚑 Three Injured in Ormond Beach Crash
Ormond Beach Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that injured three people Saturday morning at the intersection of Granada Boulevard and Williamson Boulevard. According to police, two of the injured individuals were transported to the hospital as trauma alerts, while a third person was also hurt in the crash. The roadway reopened before 10 a.m., and authorities have not yet released additional information regarding the cause of the crash as the investigation continues.

📷 Flock Camera Debate Grows After Acts of Vandalism
License plate reader cameras, commonly known as Flock cameras, have become valuable investigative tools for law enforcement agencies across Volusia County, helping locate stolen vehicles, wanted suspects and missing persons. However, the technology is also facing growing scrutiny from privacy advocates and defense attorneys who question how the data is collected and used. That debate has intensified following several recent acts of vandalism targeting the cameras, including incidents in Edgewater, DeBary and DeLand. While supporters argue the cameras help officers keep pace with increasingly sophisticated criminals, critics contend stronger safeguards are needed to prevent misuse. Authorities continue investigating the vandalism, and no arrests have been announced.
