 🎸Woodstock Comes to the Library

Musician and storyteller Marc Black returns to the library auditorium at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, for an encore multimedia performance titled “Growing Up in the Woodstock Generation…in Song with Marc Black.” The program promises a nostalgic journey through the sounds of the 1960s and ’70s, blending live music with storytelling and a visual presentation created by Susan Black.

For those who remember the era firsthand, the show offers a chance to relive defining cultural moments through song. For younger audiences, it’s an opportunity to experience the spirit of a transformative generation in an engaging, personal format. Black’s performances are known for weaving history, humor and heart into a seamless afternoon of entertainment.

Presented by the Friends of the Ormond Beach Library, the event is free and open to the public—making it an easy addition to weekend plans. If you’ve been looking for a reason to dust off your favorite folk-rock memories, this might be it.

🏥 Halifax Health Earns Top Workplace Recognition

Halifax Health has been named one of Becker’s Hospital Review’s “165 Top Places to Work in Healthcare” for 2026, according to a press release issued Monday. The national recognition highlights the organization’s commitment to employee benefits, professional development and an inclusive workplace culture.

Becker’s specifically cited Halifax Health’s broad benefits offerings, its promotion of diversity through annual training and community partnerships, and its investment in staff growth. Employee appreciation initiatives—such as the “Halifax 100 Club,” which honors team members with more than 30 years of service—also helped set the organization apart.

“Being named one of the top places to work in healthcare is a meaningful affirmation of the culture we work tirelessly to uphold,” said President and CEO Jeff Feasel. He emphasized that team members are the foundation of the health system’s success and that leadership remains committed to supporting their growth and well-being.

In a demanding industry where retention and morale matter deeply, the recognition signals that Halifax Health’s people-first approach is resonating well beyond Volusia County.

⚖️ Kistemaker Business Law Group Wins Platinum

Staying in Ormond Beach, another organization is celebrating a step up—from gold to platinum.

Kistemaker Business Law Group has received a platinum award in the Florida Community Association Journal’s 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards, as announced in the publication’s March issue. The firm previously earned gold recognition in 2025, making this year’s honor a notable advancement.

Founded in 2007, the firm is led by managing attorney and shareholder Erum S. Kistemaker. In a statement, Kistemaker said the recognition from FLCAJ’s audience is “incredibly meaningful and appreciated,” particularly within such an important professional category in Florida.

This year’s awards drew significant engagement, with more than 13,000 ballots cast and over 250 companies recognized across various categories. The platinum designation reflects strong support from readers and peers within the community association industry.

For a local firm to continue climbing the ranks in a statewide readers’ poll underscores both its longevity and reputation. In a competitive legal landscape, repeat recognition speaks volumes about consistency and client trust.

🏍️ Josh Herrin Extends Daytona 200 Dominance

And finally, from the courtroom to the racetrack, history was made at Daytona International Speedway.

Josh Herrin captured his fourth consecutive Daytona 200 victory, further cementing his legacy at the iconic venue. The 35-year-old California native piloted the No. 2 Ducati to a commanding win, crossing the finish line a staggering 38 seconds ahead of Tyler Scott on the No. 70 Suzuki.

Herrin had already made headlines last year by becoming the first rider ever to win three Daytona 200 races in a row. Now, he’s extended that record to four straight victories. With this latest triumph, Herrin also joins elite company as only the third rider in history to earn five total Daytona 200 wins, alongside Scott Russell and Miguel Duhamel.

Dominating a field in one of motorcycle racing’s most storied events is no small feat. Doing it four years running places Herrin firmly in the conversation among the sport’s greats.

At Daytona, the checkered flag may wave for just one rider—but this year, it marked a milestone for the history books.

J and J Gutters and Roofing

J & J Gutters & Roofing has been part of the Ormond Beach home-improvement landscape for three decades—and their story is exactly what many homeowners hope to find: a local, family-built company that still believes the best marketing is doing the job right.

The business was founded in 1995 by Joe Juhasz’s father, and Joe has been around it since he was a teenager. He began working in the company at about 15, learning the trade hands-on, and over the years he and his wife, Nikki, have stepped into the day-to-day leadership of the operation. That long runway matters. In an industry where trust can feel hard to come by, J & J’s staying power is one of the clearest signals that they’ve built their name the old-fashioned way—through consistency, craftsmanship, and follow-through.

Originally known for seamless gutters, the company grew steadily into related exterior systems: soffit, fascia, and screen rooms—core components that protect a home from Florida’s sun, storms, and heavy runoff. As demand expanded, so did their capabilities. After obtaining a roofing license, the business added roofing services across major roof types including shingle, tile, and metal. Today, as a licensed general contractor as well, they also handle comprehensive exterior work, supported by a general contracting background in the family—work that can range from siding projects to major remodels, and even full home construction.

What really stands out is how they approach reputation. Joe says most of their work comes from word-of-mouth referrals and repeat relationships with other contractors who bring them larger projects—an earned position that only happens when you consistently deliver. And when things aren’t perfect, their philosophy is simple: Make It Right. They noted that small fixes or simple add-ons are often handled without nickel-and-diming the customer, and if something needs attention, they stand behind their work with strong workmanship warranties—typically five years on most items and up to ten years on some.

Their most in-demand service right now? Standing seam metal roofing. With their own on-site panel machine, they can produce roof panels right at the job, and they’ve seen many homeowners switch from asphalt shingles to standing seam for longevity and leak resistance—often as a proactive move in response to insurance pressure on older shingle roofs.

Joe Juhasz - Owner

For homeowners, Joe’s guidance is practical: work with a licensed and insured contractor, and choose someone who looks at the whole “water management system”—roofing, soffit, fascia, and gutters—because protecting your home starts with where the water goes.

You can contact Joe for an estimate on your requirements at J & J Gutters & Roofing — (386) 673-1241 or jandjgutters.net
