🎸 Welcome to Rockville Sets Dates for 2027 Return

Rock fans can mark their calendars as Welcome to Rockville has officially announced its return to Daytona International Speedway from May 6-9, 2027. The four-day festival will be the event’s 16th edition and its seventh consecutive year at the Speedway.

Organized by Danny Wimmer Presents, Welcome to Rockville has become Volusia County’s largest annual music event and one of the premier rock festivals in the country. This year’s festival attracted an estimated 210,000 attendees and featured major acts including Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters, My Chemical Romance, and Bring Me The Horizon.

Presale tickets begin June 18, followed by subscriber presales on June 19 and public sales on June 22. Camping packages, hotel bundles, parking options, and VIP experiences will also be available.

🌿 Conservation Land Amendment Heads to November Ballot

Volusia County voters will decide this November whether to approve a charter amendment that would create new rules for selling or transferring county-owned conservation lands. The proposal, approved unanimously by the County Council, would establish a conservation land registry, require public notice before land is removed from the registry, and require support from five of seven council members before land can be transferred or sold.

Supporters say the measure adds safeguards for environmentally sensitive properties. However, some environmental advocates argue the amendment contains exceptions that could allow conservation lands to be repurposed for public projects without stronger protections.

A separate proposal requiring unanimous council approval failed to gain support. The approved amendment, along with four other charter changes, will now be presented directly to voters in the November election.

🌧️ County Considers Future Stormwater Fee Increase

Volusia County leaders say another stormwater fee increase may eventually be necessary to fund flood mitigation projects planned in the years ahead. The discussion comes nearly two years after Hurricane Milton flooded neighborhoods across the county, leaving some areas underwater for days.

County officials have launched multiple studies to identify drainage improvements and long-term flood prevention solutions. However, projections show the county’s stormwater utility fund could face financial shortfalls by 2030 as projects move from planning to construction.

Residents in unincorporated areas already saw fees rise from $6.50 to $8 per month in 2024. While no additional increase has been proposed, officials say future project costs will determine whether more funding is needed.

Many residents expressed concern about additional costs as families continue recovering from previous storm damage.
