🎓 New Officers Join Ormond Beach Police
The Ormond Beach Police Department is welcoming three new members to its ranks. Michael Cabrera, Maurice Atkins and Ethan Findell have completed the Law Enforcement Academy, earning recognition along the way for outstanding academic performance and physical fitness.
The graduates will now move into in-house training as they begin their careers serving the Ormond Beach community. Their arrival also gives the department an opportunity to remind prospective officers that it is looking for others interested in a career in law enforcement and public service. For residents, it’s a chance to congratulate three familiar new faces who will soon be out and about helping keep the community safe.

🖥️ Ormond Beach Hits Pause on Data Centers
Ormond Beach is taking a closer look at what it wants within city limits. Commissioners have approved an 18-month moratorium on all types of data centers while staff prepares Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code amendments aimed at formally banning the facilities.
City officials cited concerns including water and energy demands, noise, construction traffic and environmental impacts. Ormond Beach currently has no data centers or pending applications, but officials are also encouraging neighboring governments to consider similar restrictions. The city is examining policies for providing utilities outside its boundaries, though commissioners want additional information before establishing specific water-use thresholds that could affect other businesses.

🛝 Fire House Park Gets a Playground Refresh
One project families can enjoy right now has officially wrapped up. Ormond Beach has completed the renovation of the playground at Fire House Park, located at Fire Station 91 at 364 S. Atlantic Ave.
The city announced the completed project on Aug. 25. The upgrade has been in the works since July 2025, when the City Commission awarded an approximately $183,000 bid to Playcore Wisconsin Inc. for the playground’s design and installation. Funding for the project was included in the city’s fiscal year 2024-2025 budget and came from its Facilities Renewal and Replacement fund. The result is a refreshed recreation option for local families.

🕺 Historical Society Celebrates a Groovy 50 Years
The Anderson-Price Memorial Building turned into party central as the Ormond Beach Historical Society celebrated its 50th anniversary. The Aug. 22 festivities included a pancake breakfast, old-fashioned lawn games, balloon animals, snow cones, bingo, community speakers and a nighttime disco dance.
The celebration also highlighted the organization’s history, including its beginnings in 1976 and early efforts to preserve The Casements. Today, the society is looking toward its next chapter through community outreach, membership growth and fundraising. The anniversary event added 14 new memberships, while its “50 at 1,000” capital campaign has raised $27,000 toward a goal of securing 50 donations of $1,000 each. After five decades, preserving the past remains very much a community affair.

Leon Russell and Mojo Workin'

Brothers from the same mother, better known as “Batman & Robin.”
The larger of the dynamic duo, Leon (Batman), was named after legendary singer-songwriter Leon Russell. Why? Because our Leon has discovered that singing for his supper actually works. Dinner time comes with a full concert—and apparently, he takes requests.
His smaller sidekick, Mojo (Robin), doesn’t need to sing. He just turns on the charm and gets his Mojo workin’ on you! Resistance is futile.
When they’re not busy fighting crime, begging for snacks, or plotting their next adventure.
Two brothers. Two personalities. One very talkative dynamic duo. 🐾🦇
