🐢 Volusia County's Sea Turtle Season Nears Record Heights

Volusia County's beaches are experiencing one of their busiest sea turtle nesting seasons on record, with 1,144 nests documented as of June 30. That's fewer than 400 nests away from surpassing the all-time record of 1,516 set in 2023—and there are still nearly four months remaining in the nesting season. County officials say volunteers are finding more than 20 new nests on many mornings, with loggerhead turtles making up the vast majority. Green turtles, leatherbacks, and the rare Kemp's Ridley have also nested along Volusia's coastline this year. Experts believe decades of conservation efforts are paying off, helping sea turtle populations steadily recover while dedicated volunteers continue protecting nests and hatchlings every day.

🎆 Fourth of July Celebrations Ready to Shine Across Volusia

With Independence Day just around the corner, communities throughout Volusia County are preparing for a full day of patriotic celebrations. Ormond Beach's annual Independence Day Celebration will once again be one of the area's signature events, taking place from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at Rockefeller Gardens and The Casements. Families can enjoy live music, food vendors, and a spectacular fireworks display beginning at 9 p.m. Elsewhere around the county, residents can attend the Veterans Parade in Daytona Beach, climb the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse during special holiday activities, enjoy live entertainment in New Smyrna Beach, celebrate at Port Orange's Fourth of July Spectacular, or catch the popular Bandshell concert and fireworks overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

⚖️ Appeals Court Rules Against Portions of Daytona Panhandling Ordinance

Turning to legal news, Daytona Beach's panhandling ordinance has received a significant setback after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit ruled that several provisions violate the First Amendment. The court agreed with an earlier federal ruling that restrictions targeting charitable solicitations were unconstitutional, while declining to rule on other sections because the plaintiffs lacked legal standing to challenge them. The decision leaves portions of the ordinance unenforceable while other sections technically remain in place. City officials are reviewing the ruling and considering whether to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Meanwhile, Mayor Derrick Henry emphasized that laws addressing threats, trespassing, harassment, and other criminal behavior remain fully enforceable as the city evaluates possible revisions.

Wholesale to Retail -Fragrances 4 Less

There’s something fun about walking into a fragrance shop. It is part shopping trip, part treasure hunt, and part personality test. One spray says “date night.” Another says “fresh out of the shower.” Another says “I am definitely more interesting than my grocery list suggests.”

At Fragrances 4 Less, located at 100 E. Granada Blvd. in Ormond Beach, owner Matt Kynard has built a local shop around that exact experience.

Matt Kynard, Owner - Amanda, Store Associate

Matt did not start out in the fragrance business. He spent 15 years in the auto industry before burnout pushed him to look for something different. He had always been interested in fragrances, so he found a supplier and began selling from his home office on Amazon.

Then COVID changed the plan.

Matt moved the operation into an office at 100 E. Granada. The business grew quickly so he decided to build out the full retail storefront right on Granada Blvd at the same address.

Today, Fragrances 4 Less offers hundreds of perfume and cologne options, including well-known designer brands and quality off-brand alternatives, often priced 30% to 40% below retail. And according to Matt, many customers are surprised by what happens when they compare scents side by side.

Often, when buyers are given a choice, they cannot tell the difference between the designer name brand and the more affordable alternative.

One of the hottest lines in the store right now, Matt says, is Michael Malul London, a Designer Brand whose scents have been getting great reactions from customers. In some cases, shoppers even prefer them over the big designer labels.

The store serves both men and women about evenly. Men often come in shopping for themselves and for a wife or girlfriend, while women are more likely to be choosing something for themselves.

You can browse some of the available lines at www.Wholesale2Retail.org, but Matt says the best way to find the right fragrance is to stop in, sample the offerings, and let your nose make the decision.

Wholsale to Retail Fragrances 4 Less is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, call (386) 238-9091. Be sure to mention Ormond Local Pulse when you call or stop in for a SPECIAL DEAL!
