🙏 Salty Church Launches 30-Day Prayer Challenge

Salty Church Lead Pastor Robbie O’Brien is encouraging members to spend the next 30 days strengthening their connection with God through the Lord’s Prayer.

During a July 19 service, O’Brien focused on prayer, forgiveness and baptism, emphasizing that forgiveness does not necessarily mean restoring trust. Instead, he described it as releasing a debt someone owes.

The service also incorporated bowls of ocean water placed throughout the church. Members were invited to touch the water as a physical reminder of baptism, forgiveness and spiritual cleansing.

O’Brien concluded by asking members to consider when they are eager—or reluctant—to both accept and extend forgiveness as they begin the month-long prayer challenge.

🩺 Measles Resurgence Raises Public Health Concerns

Measles is making a troubling comeback in the United States, with researchers warning that falling vaccination rates could leave communities increasingly vulnerable to outbreaks.

After decades of relatively few cases, outbreaks that began in 2025 continued into 2026. Researchers at Brown University’s Pandemic Center point to declining MMR vaccination coverage as a key factor, with national rates falling below the roughly 95% level needed for herd immunity.

Beyond measles itself—which can cause pneumonia, brain inflammation and other serious complications—researchers say its return highlights broader weaknesses in infectious-disease preparedness.

The trend also carries economic consequences, as containing outbreaks can require extensive public health resources while creating additional medical expenses and productivity losses.

🚜 Tractor Supply Plans Get New Details

Plans for a proposed Tractor Supply Co. development were discussed during a recent community meeting, with representatives outlining revisions to the project and residents raising questions about its neighborhood impact.

The updated plan calls for Tractor Supply to purchase three lots and includes two stormwater management areas, additional tree conservation and 19 more specimen trees remaining on the property. A traffic study projects 437 average daily trips, down from an earlier estimate of 1,242.

Residents raised concerns about stormwater runoff, lighting, noise, wetlands, traffic and a proposed 1,000-gallon propane tank. Representatives said plans include a 20-foot tree buffer and six-foot wall.

The Site Plan Review Committee is scheduled to consider the project today at July 29 at 9 a.m. 22 South Beach Street, Room 103
