⭐Students Are Back, OBPD Investigates Hate Vandalism, $100,000 Romance Scam

Issue #1011

I'm 63 With $1.5M. Can I Spend $10K a Month?

You’ve saved $1.5 million. Now comes the real test.

Can it produce $10,000 a month, or will that pace drain your portfolio?

Most retirees do not get a clear answer until it is too late.

The issue is not just how much you have. It is whether your portfolio was built to pay you, not just grow.

That difference can determine whether your money lasts decades or starts breaking down early.

Sequence of returns, taxes on withdrawals, healthcare costs, and whether the 4% rule still applies all play a role.

Fiduciary advisors created a breakdown showing what drives sustainable income and why the same $1.5M can produce very different outcomes.

If you have $1M or more invested, do not guess.

🚌 Thousands of Students Head Back to School

The first day of school is underway across Volusia County, with approximately 20,000 students relying on school buses each day to get to and from class. Behind the scenes, the district's transportation team has spent months planning nearly 170 bus routes, adjusting pickup locations and preparing for the new school year. While transportation officials acknowledge they continue to face a shortage of bus drivers, they say trained staff and ongoing recruitment efforts are helping keep routes operating smoothly. District leaders emphasize that safety remains the top priority, with every effort focused on getting students to school on time while providing dependable service for families throughout the county.

Ormond Beach police are investigating an act of vandalism after two construction signs at a development site were spray-painted with red swastikas and other markings. According to the incident report, the signs were damaged sometime between inspections, with estimated losses of about $200. The builder told officers he has no religious affiliation but wishes to pursue criminal charges. Authorities are treating the case as criminal mischief while continuing their investigation. Acts involving hateful symbols can have an impact far beyond the immediate property damage, and community leaders continue encouraging residents to report suspicious activity and work together to foster a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

💻 Romance Scam Costs Victim More Than $100,000

A New Jersey man has been arrested after Volusia County investigators say he orchestrated an online romance scam that cost a Daytona Beach resident more than $100,000. According to authorities, the victim believed he was in a relationship with a woman he met through a dating app and was persuaded to send money for a series of fabricated emergencies, including medical expenses, travel issues and a fictitious inheritance overseas. Investigators tracked the payments through bank records and Cash App transactions, leading to the suspect's arrest. Law enforcement encourages anyone using online dating platforms to be cautious of requests for money, no matter how convincing the story may seem.
