🏗️ Tractor Supply Plans Move Forward in Ormond

A new Tractor Supply is moving closer to construction at 890 N. U.S. 1 after the Ormond Beach City Commission approved an amendment to the Tomoka Commerce Park development order in a 4-1 vote.

The revised 12.48-acre project calls for six buildings rather than the previously approved 11, reducing its projected traffic and impervious surface. Plans include 56,108 square feet of office, warehouse and industrial space along with a 21,901-square-foot Tractor Supply.

Several residents expressed concern about the potential effect on nearby small businesses, including longtime Ormond Farm Supply. Commissioners noted that a feed store is already an allowed use under the property’s zoning and said their review centers on whether the proposal complies with city regulations.

Mayor Jason Leslie cast the lone opposing vote, citing concerns about impacts on small businesses.

🎨 Artists Face Off in 20-Minute ArtBattle

Twelve artists armed with blank canvases and just 20 minutes put their creativity to the test during ArtBattle at Ormond Brewing Company on Sept. 19.

Artists competed in two preliminary rounds as spectators circled their easels and voted for favorites. Four finalists advanced, with Ormond Beach artist Michelle Delisle ultimately taking the championship for her painting of a black bird and nest cradling a pale blue egg.

Delisle received $500 and a two-night stay at the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach. Organizers said more than 350 people attended and approximately $5,000 was raised for The Creative Chapter Inc., which supports local arts, writing and youth programs.

The next Ormond Beach-Daytona ArtBattle is scheduled for Dec. 19 at Ormond Brewing, followed by a regional competition in March.
