⛽ Gas Prices Drop Across Florida
Florida drivers are getting some relief at the pump. AAA reports that the statewide average fell 29 cents in one week, reaching $4.08 per gallon Sunday and slipping to $4.06 Monday.
Volusia County averaged $4.07, slightly below neighboring Flagler County’s $4.14. Falling crude oil prices helped drive the decline, although Florida gas remains more expensive than a month ago and this time last year.
For bargain hunters, Monday’s user-reported GasBuddy prices listed Daytona Beach’s Costco and Sam’s Club at $3.79 for members, with Buc-ee’s at $3.89.
Those station prices can change quickly, but the overall trend offers welcome breathing room for drivers filling up this week.

🏘️ Granada Townhome Application Withdrawn
A proposed townhome development along West Granada Boulevard is no longer moving forward under its current application. According to Ormond Beach’s website, the Yoon Way Townhomes application was withdrawn Sept. 30.
Developer Engineer Realty, LLC, had sought a small-scale comprehensive plan amendment and rezoning for the 2.81-acre property at 1190 W. Granada Blvd. The proposal called for 12 townhome units.
The withdrawal removes that application from consideration, though the report does not explain why the developer withdrew it or whether another proposal might follow.
For residents tracking development along Granada, the immediate update is straightforward: the proposed 12-unit project’s application has been withdrawn, with no replacement plans identified in the report.

🚘 Waymo Video Sparks Safety Questions
Over in Orlando, a viral video is drawing attention to a Waymo self-driving van near Universal Orlando. Posted Sunday by Threads user @melisaunfiltered, the footage appears to show the vehicle entering Kirkman Road and Carrier Drive while the light is red.
The van continues through cross traffic, then changes lanes within the intersection as the signal turns green. By Monday evening, the post had attracted more than 670,000 views and hundreds of comments.
Waymo said it was investigating the issue. The station also observed other Waymo vehicles operating normally nearby.

Ormond Garage: Where History, House-Brewed Beer, and Community Create a Local Gathering Spot
Some restaurants occupy buildings with interesting pasts. Ormond Garage on Granada Boulevard lives and breathes its history. The building that now serves burgers, sandwiches, and craft beer started its life in the early 1900s as an actual car garage, and owner Kevin Wakefield has embraced that heritage to create a dining experience that feels both rooted in local history and refreshingly laid back.
Since opening as a restaurant in 2019, Ormond Garage has carved out a reputation for quality food and an easygoing atmosphere that keeps both locals and tourists coming back. The menu focuses on approachable favorites done well, with burgers and sandwiches taking center stage alongside an impressive selection of craft beer. But what sets this spot apart is that the beer isn't just carefully curated, it's brewed right on the premises

.Standout Menu Items Worth the Visit
While the menu offers broad appeal, two items have emerged as clear crowd favorites. The “Garage Burger” draws guests with its spicy fried pickles and a house-made sauce that gives the dish a distinctive twist you won't find anywhere else. For those craving something more traditional, the Philly Cheesesteak delivers an authentic take on the classic sandwich.
The combination of scratch-made elements and commitment to authenticity has helped Ormond Garage build a loyal following in the community.

More Than Just a Restaurant
What makes Ormond Garage particularly special isn't just the food or the house-brewed beer, it's the sense of community that has developed around the space. The historic garage setting provides a conversation starter for curious visitors, while the relaxed vibe encourages people to settle in and stay awhile.
The “Garage” has a lot of locals that come in, as well as tourists that love to see the history of the garage. That mix of regular customers and new faces creates a welcoming energy that defines the restaurant's character. Those regulars have created a family.
Looking Ahead
Ormond Garage continues to evolve with its community. This fall, the restaurant is introducing a Gators fan club for Saturday football games, creating another opportunity for people to gather, cheer, and enjoy good food and beer together. It's the kind of initiative that fits perfectly with the restaurant's community-focused approach.
Chris Maynard, assistant general manager, sums up the Ormond Garage experience simply: "It's a relaxed experience, very fun, very chill, very laid back." That unpretentious atmosphere, combined with the historic setting, house-brewed craft beer, and standout menu items, creates something memorable in the Ormond Beach dining scene.

Whether you're a history buff curious about the building's past, a craft beer enthusiast interested in sampling what's brewing on-site, or simply someone looking for a great burger and welcoming atmosphere, Ormond Garage offers a genuine local experience worth discovering.
Ormond Garage is located at 48 W Granada Blvd in Ormond Beach. For more information about menu offerings, brewing schedules, or upcoming events, visit ormondgarage.beer or call (386) 492-7981.
