🌊 King Tides Bring Flooding and Erosion

High tides are flooding areas along the Halifax River and carving steep drop-offs into parts of Volusia County’s beaches.

Coastal Director Jessica Fentress said recently placed sand helped buffer seawalls and public infrastructure. Some locations, including 27th Avenue Park, sustained damage, while others remained accessible.

County officials are monitoring conditions with state and federal agencies and hope to smooth eroded beach cliffs when ocean conditions allow.

🇺🇸 Rally Draws Crowds to Ocean Center

Trump supporters began lining up early Friday, Oct. 30, for President Donald Trump’s midterm rally at Daytona Beach’s Ocean Center.

Ormond Beach resident Roger Cole arrived at 9:30 a.m., saying the chance to experience the event alongside fellow supporters made the wait worthwhile. Other local attendees described it as their first presidential rally.

The Observer’s report captured the anticipation before Trump’s scheduled evening remarks, with lines winding through the parking lot.

🍽️ Taste of Ormond Moves to January

Taste of Ormond has been postponed again, this time to Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027, because of rain forecasts and concerns about soggy grounds.

The event remains at Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive, from 3–6 p.m., with VIP entry at 2:30 p.m. Expect unlimited restaurant tastings, live music, a silent auction and a Roaring ’20s theme.

Existing tickets remain valid. Tickets are $100 per person at ormondbeachmainstreet.com.

🚔 Two Arrested Over Alleged Trump Threats

Authorities reported two separate arrests involving alleged threats against President Trump ahead of his Daytona Beach visit.

Daytona Beach Police arrested a 15-year-old Mainland High student after school monitoring software flagged text in her school account. Separately, sheriff’s deputies arrested 21-year-old Allison Albro over a social media post allegedly threatening to shoot the president.

Investigators said both described their statements as jokes. Each faces criminal charges; Albro was being held without bond pending further proceedings.
