⛳ Contractor Offers $5 Million for River Bend
Holly Hill’s GPS Civil Construction has offered Ormond Beach $5 million for the former River Bend Golf Course and surrounding city parcels.
Its proposal would expand the airport business park and add hangars, offering a different vision from two interested buyers seeking to reopen the course.
The 172-acre property is not currently for sale. City officials say an airport master plan update is needed as part of the FAA land-use review process.
River Bend closed in 2020, and residents continue advocating for its return as a public golf course.

🕯️ Police Investigate Two Boys’ Deaths
In Daytona Beach, police say the deaths of two boys, ages 3 and 5, appear to have been a tragic accident.
Their bodies were found Sunday in a retention pond near Clyde Morris Landing Apartments. Police Chief Jabari Young said the children left their apartment while their mother briefly slept.
Surveillance footage showed them near the pond before both became submerged. Young said investigators have found no obvious signs of foul play.
The investigation remains ongoing, and information has been forwarded to the State Attorney’s Office.

🍂 Cooler Weather Could Arrive This Weekend
Looking ahead to the weather, North and Central Florida may finally get a taste of fall. According to the National Weather Service forecast cited by the News-Journal, a modest cold front could bring weekend highs in the upper 70s.
That would offer a welcome break from October’s lingering summer warmth—though full sweater season may still be a little farther away.
Florida’s coolest stretch generally falls between December and February, with January typically the coldest month. For now, the approaching front could make outdoor plans feel considerably more comfortable.
