🌧️ More Rain Could Bring Localized Flooding
Volusia County’s umbrellas will stay busy through the weekend. According to the National Weather Service forecast cited by the News-Journal, a warm front nudged across Florida by Hurricane Isaias is expected to keep rain chances near 80% through Saturday, Oct. 10, before easing to 60% Sunday.
The more likely rainfall total is 1–1.5 inches between Oct. 8 and 11, although heavier downpours could push some locations toward 3 inches.
After an already wet week, additional rain brings a minor risk of localized flooding, particularly where downpours are heaviest.
Temperatures are expected to climb from the low 80s toward nearly 90 degrees by Sunday, keeping the weekend warm as well as wet.

⛳ River Bend’s Future Remains Unsettled
The wait continues for answers about Ormond Beach’s shuttered River Bend Golf Course. At the Oct. 7 commission meeting, City Manager Joyce Shanahan said the FAA’s Orlando Airport District Office needs more time to clarify the process, with no timeline provided.
The 172-acre course, closed since 2020, sits on airport land. City staff says an updated airport master plan is needed before proceeding. The FAA told the Observer it has not received a formal proposal and would need documentation addressing future aviation demand and proposed land use.
At least two parties have expressed purchasing interest. Commissioner Travis Sargent suggested obtaining preliminary costs and a timeline for updating the master plan.
