🎃 Grace Lutheran’s Pumpkin Patch Opens

Pumpkin season has arrived at Grace Lutheran Church, where volunteers unloaded this year’s crop on Sept. 27. Students from St. Brendan’s Catholic School and Seabreeze High School joined church members, friends and families to get the annual patch ready.

Find your fall favorite at 338 Ocean Shore Blvd. The patch is open Monday–Friday, noon–4:30 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday, 1–6:30 p.m.

The church also has two October gatherings on the calendar: a Blessing of the Bikes on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 11 a.m.–2 p.m., and a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 11 a.m.–3 p.m.

Whether you’re decorating the porch or planning a family outing, the patch offers a seasonal stop close to home.

🍺 Fletcher’s Puts Its Brewery in the Spotlight

From pumpkins to pints, another Ormond favorite is embracing a fresh identity. Fletcher’s has rebranded as Fletcher’s Irish Brewery & Scratch Kitchen, highlighting beer brewed on-site and a kitchen that owner Bill Fletcher says is about 90% scratch-made.

Brewing moved from Holly Hill to 393 W. Granada Blvd. in December 2025. Customers typically can choose from 18–22 house brews, with more than 60 beers overall, including guest brands.

The restaurant is also preparing its seventh annual Shave for the Brave campaign supporting the Live Like Cameron Foundation. An Oct. 30 kickoff party will feature Black Sheep. Fletcher estimates the campaign has raised more than $300,000 over six years for the childhood cancer nonprofit.

🏛️ Bunnell City Manager Resigns

Bunnell City Manager Alvin Jackson has resigned after eight years leading the city. His departure appears on the agenda for the City Commission’s Monday, Oct. 5, meeting.

The resignation follows mounting criticism of his handling of a proposed landfill development. Residents have questioned when project details became public, while it was also reported that Jackson contacted a resident’s employer following a public records request.

Commissioners are scheduled to consider accepting the resignation, appointing Police Chief David Brannon as interim city manager and beginning the search for a permanent replacement.

Brannon joined Bunnell in February 2022 after 25 years with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Jackson had previously announced later departure dates before accelerating his exit.

🚦 Daytona Announces Weekend Traffic Zone

Anyone heading to Daytona’s beachside Saturday should allow extra travel time. Daytona Beach police announced a special event zone ahead of an expected unsanctioned truck gathering that could increase vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The zone runs from University Boulevard south to Silver Beach Avenue, between the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. It will be in effect from 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, until 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4.

Police say motorists should expect strict enforcement throughout the area. The announcement follows years of concern about truck gatherings, including the disruptive 2021 Daytona Truck Meet.

For residents and visitors, the practical takeaway is straightforward: anticipate congestion and plan beachside trips accordingly.
