💰 Entrepreneurs Get Funding Advice In DeLand

Volusia County entrepreneurs looking to turn good ideas into fundable businesses can get some firsthand advice at a free Funding Readiness Workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at DeLand’s Wayne G. Sanborn Center, the Volusia Business Resources event will connect participants with lenders and financial professionals while covering financial organization, funding options and the lending process.

The workshop will also feature Desiree Haller, founder and CEO of Volusia-based SubSafe. Haller and her husband took their product to “Shark Tank,” where they landed a deal with Mark Cuban and Charles Barkley before growing SubSafe into an outdoor industry brand.

The workshop is free, but advance registration is required and space is limited.

🗳️ Bobak Brings Civic Involvement to Zone 4 Race

Amber Bobak says her involvement in Ormond Beach government grew from a neighborhood issue: plans for a Circle K about 400 feet from her home.

After researching regulations, attending meetings and appealing aspects of the project, Bobak became more involved in local government. She was appointed to the Planning Board in February and also serves as an alternate on the Board of Adjustment and Appeals.

Now she is challenging incumbent Harold Briley for the Zone 4 City Commission seat in the Nov. 3 election. Bobak received 38.84% in the August primary, while Briley received 41.86%, sending the two to the general election.

Bobak has emphasized environmental stewardship, public participation and transparency while describing herself as supportive of small government and not opposed to development.

🍔 White Castle Slides Into Daytona Beach

White Castle is bringing a 105-year-old fast-food name to Daytona Beach with the opening of its newest Florida restaurant at 1944 LPGA Boulevard near Interstate 95.

The location opens Sept. 22 and becomes the chain’s fourth freestanding Florida restaurant, adding about 60 jobs locally. Company officials say customer requests helped bring the slider chain to Daytona, particularly as longtime fans who relocated to Florida looked for a familiar taste from home.

The menu includes White Castle’s signature beef sliders along with chicken, fish, breakfast offerings and a returning Southwest veggie slider.

Initial hours will run from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m., with plans to gradually move to 24-hour service. Once that happens, even the sign will join the night shift, changing from “White Castle” to “Night Castle” after dark.

Cat 6 Purricane Rescue Partners is a 501(c)3 non-profit cat rescue organization located in beautiful Ormond Beach! We are blessed to have the opportunity to put 7 of our wonderful kittens and 2 beautiful cats up for adoption! Our kittens have been raised in foster homes and have been given so much love and attention and in return have grown to be amazingly friendly loving kittens.

We have the 4 siblings, the "M Purricane" group, Morris, MOO, Millie and Mary, and the dynamic brother- sister duo LUCA and LUNA and our little solo buy TJ, short for Tuxi Junior. We also have 2 of the the most amazing adult cats. SKITTLES is a 1 year old Tortie girl and PUMPKIN is a 1 year old long haired dark orange boy.
