🤿 Explore Blue Spring Beneath the Surface

Blue Spring State Park offers more than a shoreside view of its famous wildlife. Florida Dive Company leads snorkeling and introductory scuba experiences that let visitors explore the spring’s clear waters without prior diving certification.

Located inside the Orange City park, the company handles equipment and guides guests through an underwater habitat filled with turtles, bass, garfish and other fish. Roughly 100 million gallons of water emerge from the limestone spring system daily.

Tours are expected to continue until around mid-November, depending on when manatees return in larger numbers. Their arrival ends in-water activities for the season. Visitors must follow wildlife-protection rules, including giving manatees space and never touching them.

🌊 Lost Memorial Bench Finds Bermuda

Another Florida story follows an extraordinary journey across the ocean. A memorial bench swept from the Dunedin Causeway during Hurricane Helene in 2024 has surfaced more than 1,000 miles away in Bermuda.

Dedicated to Medhat “Mike” Sadiku, the bench carries his reassuring words: “It’ll be all right.” His family learned of its discovery Sept. 18, when Bermuda resident Angela Dill contacted them with photographs.

Dill found it while thinking about her own late son, making the encounter especially meaningful. A meteorologist suggested storms and ocean currents may explain its travels.

The family is considering visiting the bench or shipping it home, although Dunedin says its condition prevents reinstallation on the causeway.

Ormond Garage: Where History, House-Brewed Beer, and Community Create a Local Gathering Spot

Some restaurants occupy buildings with interesting pasts. Ormond Garage on Granada Boulevard lives and breathes its history. The building that now serves burgers, sandwiches, and craft beer started its life in the early 1900s as an actual car garage, and owner Kevin Wakefield has embraced that heritage to create a dining experience that feels both rooted in local history and refreshingly laid back.

Since opening as a restaurant in 2019, Ormond Garage has carved out a reputation for quality food and an easygoing atmosphere that keeps both locals and tourists coming back. The menu focuses on approachable favorites done well, with burgers and sandwiches taking center stage alongside an impressive selection of craft beer. But what sets this spot apart is that the beer isn't just carefully curated, it's brewed right on the premises

.Standout Menu Items Worth the Visit

While the menu offers broad appeal, two items have emerged as clear crowd favorites. The “Garage Burger” draws guests with its spicy fried pickles and a house-made sauce that gives the dish a distinctive twist you won't find anywhere else. For those craving something more traditional, the Philly Cheesesteak delivers an authentic take on the classic sandwich.

The combination of scratch-made elements and commitment to authenticity has helped Ormond Garage build a loyal following in the community.

More Than Just a Restaurant

What makes Ormond Garage particularly special isn't just the food or the house-brewed beer, it's the sense of community that has developed around the space. The historic garage setting provides a conversation starter for curious visitors, while the relaxed vibe encourages people to settle in and stay awhile.

The “Garage” has a lot of locals that come in, as well as tourists that love to see the history of the garage. That mix of regular customers and new faces creates a welcoming energy that defines the restaurant's character. Those regulars have created a family.

Looking Ahead

Ormond Garage continues to evolve with its community. This fall, the restaurant is introducing a Gators fan club for Saturday football games, creating another opportunity for people to gather, cheer, and enjoy good food and beer together. It's the kind of initiative that fits perfectly with the restaurant's community-focused approach.

Chris Maynard, assistant general manager, sums up the Ormond Garage experience simply: "It's a relaxed experience, very fun, very chill, very laid back." That unpretentious atmosphere, combined with the historic setting, house-brewed craft beer, and standout menu items, creates something memorable in the Ormond Beach dining scene.

Whether you're a history buff curious about the building's past, a craft beer enthusiast interested in sampling what's brewing on-site, or simply someone looking for a great burger and welcoming atmosphere, Ormond Garage offers a genuine local experience worth discovering.

Ormond Garage is located at 48 W Granada Blvd in Ormond Beach. For more information about menu offerings, brewing schedules, or upcoming events, visit ormondgarage.beer or call (386) 492-7981.
