🎓 Volusia Schools Earn State Recognition
Volusia County Schools has been named an academically high-performing district, joining just 17 others statewide.
The designation recognizes two consecutive A grades, no F-rated schools, compliance with class-size requirements and a clean financial audit.
The status lasts three years, provided requirements continue to be met, and offers flexibility including up to two virtual instructional days.
Superintendent Carmen Balgobin called the achievement a team win, crediting teachers, staff, families and community partners for combining strong academics with responsible financial management.

📬 Sample Ballots Delayed in the Mail
Meanwhile, Volusia voters waiting for sample ballots should see them arriving soon. The Elections Office says its printing vendor missed the planned mailing schedule because of production demands and internal issues.
Supervisor Lisa Lewis apologized for the inconvenience and said the office is reviewing the vendor’s obligations.
You can review your sample ballot now at VolusiaElections.gov. To request that elections staff print and mail a copy, call 386-736-5930.
The delay concerns sample ballots for reviewing your choices before voting.

⛳ River Bend Supporters Demand Progress
Back in Ormond Beach, River Bend advocates held press conferences Oct. 15–16, urging the city to restore public golf and provide clearer documentation of next steps.
Their renewed push follows competing proposals to reopen the course or expand airport businesses and hangars. The 172-acre property, closed since 2020, is not currently for sale.
Residents question whether updated airport planning is necessary. The city says deed restrictions require written FAA consent and that staff continues seeking guidance on the required review.
Supporters want transparency—and a path back to the fairways.
